About us

The NSW Multicultural HIV and Hepatitis Service (NSW MHAHS) supports people from diverse cultural and language backgrounds across New South Wales to address HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and sexual health.

How do we work?

We work with communities to provide information, education, and support to improve access to health care for all.

We run multilingual programs to help diverse communities understand health information and access care with confidence. By working closely with our communities, we ensure our programs are inclusive and effective.

We also partner with health services and community organisations to provide culturally tailored health education, support programs, and multilingual media campaigns. Our goal is to empower communities with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the health care system confidently.

State-wide advisory and community development

We help shape policies, research, and programs to ensure culturally inclusive health care.

We work closely with communities to create in-language resources, maintain a multilingual website, and develop multimedia campaigns in multiple languages.

HIV Clinical Concierge Program

Our trained Cultural Support Workers offer one-on-one, in-language support to people with HIV. They help clients understand their diagnosis, treatment, and available support services. The service is free and confidential for anyone living in NSW. If you are living with HIV or know someone who is living with HIV, call us for more information and support on (02)95151234 or email info@mhahs.org.au.

Education and workforce development

We offer in-language education sessions for community members on HIV and viral hepatitis.

We also provide training for health professionals on working with diverse communities.

Our staff

At NSW MHAHS, we have a passionate team of professionals from many different cultural, religious, and language backgrounds. This diversity helps us understand and connect with the communities we support.

A key part of our team is the Cultural Support Program. This program includes trained Cultural Support Workers (CSWs) from over 25 cultural and language backgrounds. CSWs play an important role in supporting people with HIV and helping them access health care.

Our CSWs receive ongoing training and professional development to ensure they can provide the best support. As trusted leaders of their communities, they help make our services more inclusive and accessible.

Together we are committed to improving health outcomes for diverse communities and creating a welcoming and supportive environment for all.
